Description:
He Ma’uka’uka Hoe Hewa, which translates to: “a person from the uplands, unskilled in paddling”.
The owner for FOR, Keely, and I have known each other for years. We met through freediving and have been cheering each other on in our respective endeavors all this time. There are some parallels in our paths, and we wanted this tote and its message to celebrate that.
In our own ways, we are each devoted to preservation. FOR represents Keely’s life’s work of offering knowledge and alternatives to live a more sustainable lifestyle - all inspired by her upbringing here on O’ahu in Manoa Valley. I came into this lifestyle much later than her, but the land and water is so inspiring to me, that much of my work began to surround this idea of showing the beauty in our environment and inspiring feelings of protection for it.
We wanted our tote to celebrate this idea of knowledge sharing that has fueled our friendship, and hope that it spurs others to do the same.
